Who: Well the the rich people's clothes were probly more expensive and looked nicer than the less wealthy peoples clothes.
What: Im not sure but i think that most of the clothes were made out of cotten and thicker matirials so they could keep warm in the cloder months

Why: because they wanted to come up with something new and diffrent.
How: someone somewhere decided to have some new idea for clothing and so they took their idea and showed it to the world. Thus a new fashion trend.

Clothing during world war I effected american history by changing the way we dress from how it used to be thousands of years ago to how it is now. As the war progressed, clothing that people wore became shorter and shorter. "The effect of war on fashion styles was that military braiding, belts with buckles and shorter skirts were seen everywhere. Fashion history shows that clothes got shorter during the First World War out of practical necessity." That makes scence, styles today are much shorter than they were a long time ago. Shorter skirts and shorts are worn by not only girls but guys to. It used to be that girls wore long flowing dresses while men wore dress pants or slacks, now times have changed and new shorter styles are being created. Hats during world war one were a very popular accsesory, they were largely brimed and decorated with ribbons and feathers. "Lavish brims swept around the face creating an illusion of a hat suspended as if by magic on the head. The hat was often an amorphous mass swathed in tulle and smothered in flora, ribbon rosettes or plumage. After 1903 large lace veils gave an impression of the hat being a frothy mass." The hats is this era were beautiful. They a lavish accesorie and brought so many new fashion possiblities. As the war progressed, more casual realaxed styles were being created, loose fitting clothes were the newest fashion trend. "All the changes that were forced on a rigid society were a direct result of the war. Women stopped wearing jewellery and lavish clothes. Dress rules for both sexes were relaxed in theatres and other venues." Shoes during the 1900's ( close to when the war first began) were elegant and graceful, decorated with lace and bows. "Turn-of-the-century boots were made of kid or patent leather, with laces up the front or bottons up the side. Slip-on shoes, sometimes jazzed up with bows or bluckles, were popular day-wear." In 1902-1907 women wore "walking dresses" almost evrywhere they went. "Women wore layers of frilly petticoats, know as "frou-frou," becasue of the rustling, swishing noise they made. The "walking dress" was also popular during 1902-1907. The walking dress shows the taste for lace trimmings and the S-bend silloiette." The walking dress was a unique style the gave women a look of elegance and beauty. All of the bottons must have been hard to do and undo! The frock coat that had been worn in the 1800's remained correct dress for formal occasions. It was a long, waisted garment that reached almost to the knees and was usually double-breasted. It was worn open, over a vest, and with checked or pinstriped trousers." Frock coats are still worn today, but they look a little diffrent. For formal occasions men wear tuxes and suites that are usualy black and are worn with ties and long black dress pants. Usually these things are worn to proms and formal dances.
